I write songs and made an album called Bewildered in the Anthropocene. I perform solo and with my small acoustic band Unsupervised Learning and with my large electric band Dogs in a Pile.

My day job is deploying a team of 50 brilliant hard working nerds doing honest and deep energy analysis. I’ve testified as an expert witness for government and public interest clients in over 100 cases and co-authored hundreds of papers and reports. My firm, Synapse Energy Economics (founder, board chair, chief scientist) is doing great work across the US.

I also advise various organizations including the Future of Heat Initiative (co-founder and board chair), Green Energy Consumers Alliance (board), Horizon Climate Initiative (advisory board), and Black Swan Lab (advisory board). I also host a weeklyish podcast called the Energy Nerd Show and an Energy Nerd Social Club that meets monthlyish..

The common theme of all of these organizations and projects is bringing people together to know and support each other while solving some of the most complex and important problems of our time.
